Vision / Mission
The West Virginia Poison Center (WVPC) is certified by the American Association of Poison Control Centers. It serves the entire state of West Virginia 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
VISION
To be recognized as the lead agency in West Virginia for the provision of poison prevention services, clinical toxicology education, consultations on the management of poisoning emergencies, information on acute poisoning trends, and as the source of current, evidence-based poisoning treatment guidelines. To work in collaboration with hospitals, public health, educational programs, emergency service entities, and other government agencies to decrease the adverse effects of poisonings in West Virginia while reducing health care costs.
MISSION
The West Virginia Poison Center is an information resource for both the public and health care professionals, whose two-fold purpose is to assist in the provision of optimal treatment of the poisoned patient and to reduce the number of accidental poisonings throughout West Virginia.
