Two WVU School of Nursing graduate programs achieve top 75 rankings for 2026 from U.S. News and World Report

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. — Two graduate programs at the West Virginia University School of Nursing have ranked in the top 75 in the country, according to the 2026 U.S. News & World Report rankings.

The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Nurse Anesthetist program ranked No. 60 for Best Nurse Anesthesia Programs, and the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program ranked No. 75 for Best Nursing Schools: Master’s.

“Receiving these outstanding rankings is certainly exciting, but it comes as no surprise here at the School of Nursing,” said Dr. Tara Hulsey, Dean and E. Jane Martin Endowed Professor. “With the expertise of our program directors and faculty, our rigorous curriculum, and our dedicated students, our graduate-level degrees provide clear pathways to success. Our graduates are not only able to achieve their career goals, but they are also meeting the healthcare needs of West Virginia and beyond.”

Both U.S. News & World Report graduate rankings compared 147 schools. Their methodology scores 15 distinct indicators in the categories of faculty resources, research activity, quality assessment, program size, and student selectivity.

“I am incredibly proud of our programs and everyone involved for helping us achieve this impressive accolade,” said Dr. Stacy Huber, Associate Dean of Curriculum. “If you are interested in higher education in nursing, we encourage you to reach out to us to see which program is the right fit for you.”

According to U.S. News & World Report, an advanced degree in nursing can open doors to expanded clinical roles, leadership opportunities and higher earning potential.
